Welcome!

Adam Sterling 1 Comment

Welcome! I’m Adam Sterling, aka The Sterling Traveler. In 2009, I got started in the miles and points hobby. This allowed me to travel a lot without using regular money. The idea alone excited me and I quickly told my family members about it. One of them encouraged me to start my own blog because it was obvious that travel and the miles & points hobby were passions of mine… and here we are!

This Blog is Not Like Other Blogs

While it might seem like this blog looks and feels like other blogs, I want to make the content unique and unlike other blogs. After deciding I would start a blog, I didn’t want it to focus only on miles & points. There are other blogs out there that cover that topic. When I read those blogs, I found myself asking how to use them for everyday travel – not just the aspirational destinations – like the Maldives. I felt like they came up short with that and focused more on how to earn more miles and points.

Starting a travel blog also didn’t quite appeal to me as I felt like they focused on destinations and not about miles & points. This helped me narrow down the topic for this blog – which is one part miles & points blog and one or two parts travel blog.

My Commitment to You

As you journey with me through writing this blog, my goal is to keep true to that. You will read about…

  • Frequent Flier Programs – earn miles when you fly, dine and shop online.  You can earn airline miles by doing your normal everyday routine.
  • Credit Cards rewards – maximize credit card points from sign-up and category bonuses.  This is one of the most lucrative way to earn airline miles or hotel points.
  • Various travel experiences and destinations.  I find it fun to research destinations (both that are and are not on my “To See” list).

It is my hope that you’ll find that it is easy to earn (and use!) miles & points and to travel more than you thought was possible. Join me on my journeys and I will help you to find your journeys. Don’t miss a single blog post by signing up for my email newsletter – you’ll get all of my new posts and the occasional deal or news straight to your email inbox! If you’re not quite ready for that, find out more about me.

FYI: Trivia Genius used your article about Jack Daniels being in a dry county as the source for their question: ‘What famous liquor is made in a place where selling alcohol is illegal?’ Your article does not mention that while it is illegal to sell alcohol in Moore County it is legal in their store at their plant. I had no difficulty purchasing at the Jack Daniels facility a few years ago because they have a special license to sell their packaged liquor there.
